Would You Like To Volunteer?
Christine Johanson Ross, (Chris), recently relocated to Jax with her Husband David from their 35 year home in North suburbs of Chicago in Buffalo Grove, where she worked as a volunteer and on several Presidential and Congressional races. As a paid staffer, she helped elect Raja Krishnamoorthi to the 8th Congressional District in IL in 2016.
Chris was the HEALTH CARE ACA Team lead for her NWSOFA: Northwest Suburbs Organizing for Action Team, where she had the honor of shaking President Obama’s hand at an OFA Summit in D.C. in 2014. As ACA team lead, she helped coordinate Forums, lead phone banks on the ACA in her community and set up volunteer outreach centers at libraries. She also worked with Get Covered America, aiding citizens in the community to get signed up for the ACA with navigators.
After moving to Jacksonville, she joined the Young Dems and a grassroots organization “Indivisible Mandarin” as a volunteer, where Chris helped canvass and made phone calls to help elect Democrats. Through Chris’s Lakewood Presbyterian Church, she became a member of I.C.A.R.E./Interfaith Coalition for Action, Reconciliation & Empowerment, working to improve justice issues with the Sheriff and State Attorney.
Chris is also a member of Moms Demand Action and this is another reason why Chris is so passionate about helping elect Dr. Tony Cummings, who also cares deeply about Reducing Gun Violence, Restoring Trust, and Police Accountability.
Chris, graduated from North Park College/ University in Chicago, in 1977 with a B.A. in Music, where her pastor father attended seminary. Chris is also the Author of a 2000/14 re- release of a children’s book, “A Snowflake Dream”.
Chris is so proud to be a mom to her beautiful married daughter Rebecca who lives in WA and excited to become 1st time Grandmother in August! Chris also LOVES to Boogie Board in the ocean!
